Office Coordinator / Medical Assistant – Behavioral Health (Daphne, AL)

The Anchor Clinic is seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Office Coordinator / Medical Assistant to join our growing behavioral health practice in Daphne, Alabama.

Because many of our patients are seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, we are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient, and committed to providing exceptional customer service.

As the first point of contact for our patients, the Office Coordinator / Medical Assistant plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in a fast-paced medical office, and has excellent organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, greet, and check patients in for appointments
  • Check patients out and collect copays or balances when applicable
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Schedule new and existing patient appointments
  • Process and manage new patient referrals
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorizations for medications and treatments when needed
  • Process prescription refill requests under provider direction
  • Communicate with pharmacies, laboratories, and referring providers as needed
  • Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Scan, upload, and organize medical documentation
  • Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and outside healthcare offices
  • Assist providers with administrative and clinical support duties
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office
  • Perform other administrative and clinical duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude
  • Compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new software systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a medical office, behavioral health setting, or customer service role preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification is required
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is a plus
