Driver - After-School Student Transportation
Job Description
Stemtree San Jose is seeking responsible adult drivers to safely transport children from nearby schools to our Stemtree center using company van(s). This is a part-time position requiring approximately two hours each school days during the academic year.
Work Schedule:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
- Thursday: 11:45 PM - 1:45 PM
Duties:
- Safely operate school buses or transit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations.
- Pick up and drop off students at designated locations, ensuring punctuality and adherence to schedules.
- Follow emergency response procedures during incidents or accidents, including emergency stop procedures and first aid protocols when necessary.
- Maintain clear communication with school staff, parents, and dispatchers regarding student arrivals, delays, or issues during transit.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after routes to ensure safety standards are met and report any maintenance needs promptly.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and transportation safety regulations applicable to school transportation.
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must successfully pass a background check and Live Scan fingerprint clearance
- Reliable, responsible, punctual, and enjoys working around children.
