We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting residents with daily activities, health monitoring, and community engagement, ensuring a respectful and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor residents’ health status by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking while adhering to dietary restrictions and care plans.
- Transporting the individual to and from medical appointments.
- Community Integration: Accompany the individual on community outings, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience, and encouraging participation in social activities.
- Behavioral Management: Implement behavior support plans, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, behaviors, and any changes in the individual’s condition.
- Environmental Support: Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive living environment for the individual.
- Promote Independence: Encourage the development of social skills, independence, and self-advocacy.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CPR/1st Aid certified or willing to certify before start date
- Valid physical and PPD within 1 year of application date
- Experience with individuals who have intellectual disabilities and behaviors
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Patience and compassion for those with disabilities
- NADSP DSP Level 1 certification or higher preferred or must be acquired within 90 days of hire
- Must be willing to complete company assigned trainings through MyODP prior to start date
- Ability to re-direct individuals and de-escalate behaviors
