Coaxial Cable Splicers – 3rd Shift
Shift: 3rd Shift Maintenance Window — typically 9:00 PM–7:00 AM
Schedule: Sunday–Thursday or project-specific schedule
Location: Greensboro, NC
Comp & Incentives: $32-$40/hr, DOE | company vehicle & fuel card provided
Other: Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check & drug screen
Position Summary:
We are seeking experienced Coaxial Cable Splicers (multiple openings!) to support large-scale Network Evolution projects. This role performs overnight HFC network upgrades, maintenance, and restoration during designated 3rd shift maintenance windows, helping modernize broadband infrastructure while minimizing customer impact.
Responsibilities:
- Perform hardline coaxial cable splicing on feeder and distribution plant.
- Replace and upgrade amplifiers, line extenders, nodes, passives, and power supplies.
- Support node segmentation, plant rearrangements, network cutovers, and restoration.
- Perform RF balancing, signal testing, and forward/return path troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot ingress, egress, MER, SNR, tilt, and signal-level issues.
- Read and interpret system maps, engineering prints, and work packages.
- Complete all work and restore services within the scheduled maintenance window.
- Document completed work, test results, and materials used.
- Coordinate with NOC, Maintenance, Construction, Engineering, and project teams.
- Support emergency outage restoration and storm response as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of HFC maintenance or coaxial splicing experience.
- Experience working on live HFC broadband networks.
- Strong understanding of RF signal flow and HFC network architecture.
- Experience with amplifiers, line extenders, nodes, passives, and power supplies.
- Proficient with SLMs, spectrum analyzers, sweep equipment, TDRs, and related splicing tools.
- Ability to read system maps and engineering/construction prints.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work overnight and travel extensively.
Preferred: Network Evolution experience; bucket truck certification; OSHA 10/30; CDL; fiber splicing experience.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., climb poles/ladders and bucket trucks, work in aerial and underground plant, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
