As an Orthopaedic Medical Assistant for Desert Orthopaedic Center(DOC), our mission is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and support to every orthopaedic patient throughout their journey. To accomplish this goal, our Medical Assistants are hands-on and committed to providing the highest quality of care. This role offers the opportunity to learn and master a wide range of clinical and administrative skills, including suturing, phlebotomy, casting and splinting, wound care, DME application, billing, coding, and surgery scheduling. Additionally, Medical Assistants gain valuable experience in medical terminology, de-escalation, patient communication, and essential administrative duties while working alongside our highly trained physicians and mid-level providers.

Requirements:

  • Back office/clinic experience required - 1 year minimum
  • Valid MA Certification Required
  • Reliable transportation

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
  • Communicate with multiple team members and physicians to ensure efficient patient care
  • Escort patients to exam rooms
  • Triage and accurately obtain patient information
  • Accurately communicate patient information to physicians and in patient chart
  • Casting/Splinting
  • Suture/staple removal
  • Administrative duties

Qualifications:

  • Prior orthopaedic experience a plus
  • Knowledge of computers, applications, and EMR/EHR/EMA
  • Detail oriented
  • Organized
  • Team player
  • Excellent effective communication and verbal skills
  • Accurately document information
  • Must enjoy working with patients in a fast paced environment
  • Must be flexible and reliable in regards to schedule and travel
  • Willing to float with up to 27 teams to assist in patient care and admin duties
  • Eagerness to learn
  • Positive attitude
  • MA certification
  • Casting and splinting experience a plus
  • Suture/staple removal experience a plus
  • Wound care experience a plus
  • Bilingual a plus
