A Community Health Worker (CHW) is a frontline healthcare professional who works within their community to promote health, wellness, and access to healthcare services.

Responsibilities:

  • Support chronic disease management
  • Provide health education and outreach
  • Assist with navigation of healthcare systems
  • Advocate for community health needs
  • Connect individuals to social services
  • Conduct health screenings and assessments

Qualifications:

  • Typically reside in the community they serve
  • Have a deep understanding of local culture and social issues
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • May have formal training in healthcare or community health, but not always

    Role in Healthcare:

    CHWs play a crucial role in bridging the gap between healthcare providers and underserved communities. They help improve access to care, promote health literacy, and empower individuals to take charge of their health. All applicants must complete a BCI check and haver own transportation and a clean driving record.
