Job Description

Looking for meaningful outpatient medicine, strong team support, and a schedule that respects your life outside of work? Shenandoah Community Health (SCH), a Federally Qualified Health Center and Primary Care Medical Home, is seeking a Family Medicine Physician to join our Primary Care team in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. This opportunity offers mission-driven, community-based care with a predictable four- or five-day workweek, no evenings or weekends, low-volume call, and the chance to make a lasting impact in the lives of patients and families.

At SCH, physicians practice the kind of primary care that drew many clinicians to medicine in the first place: relationship-centered, team-based, and focused on whole-person health. Our Family Medicine Physicians provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages, supported by an integrated team that includes behavioral health, pharmacy, care management, interpreters, health educators, and social work resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or eligibility for board certification. (Must obtain certification within 5 years of completing residency).
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of WV.
  • Current WV DEA.
  • All qualifications must be met by start date.

Work-Life Balance:

  • Flexible four- or five-day workweek
  • No evenings, no weekends, and an outpatient-only setting
  • Outpatient primary care setting
  • Low-volume call rotation every six to eight weeks for one week at a time, with initial calls answered by the answering service

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient examinations and assessments to diagnose medical conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and preferences.
  • Provide preventive care services, including vaccinations, screenings, and health education.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Why physicians choose SCH:

  • A schedule designed for sustainability: flexible four- or five-day workweek with no evenings or weekends
  • Competitive compensation package with salary plus encounter-based incentive compensation calculated and paid biannually
  • Robust benefits package including paid vacation, sick leave, CME leave and allotment, medical coverage, life and long-term disability insurance, retirement plan, and paid professional license and DEA fees
  • Professional liability coverage under occurrence based Federal Tort Claims Act
  • Potential eligibility for Federal or State Loan Repayment programs
  • Signing bonus, paid interview expenses, and relocation assistance
  • Team-based care model with 50+ multidisciplinary clinicians across primary care, pediatrics, internal medicine, OB/GYN, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dentistry
  • Integrated support from social workers, health educators, case/care managers, medical interpreters, and other care team members so physicians can focus on patient care
  • Opportunities to teach and mentor as a clinical preceptor

Live and work in the beautiful northern Shenandoah Valley, with rolling hills, outdoor recreation, historic charm, local arts and culture, and convenient access to Washington, DC and Baltimore both approximately 80 miles away.
