Automotive Photographer

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Automotive Photographer to join our team in Christiansburg, Virginia. This position is responsible for photographing a unique and diverse inventory of vehicles, including classic, collector, specialty, and modern automobiles.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality work, and is comfortable working hands-on around vehicles. Automotive knowledge is helpful, but reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are equally important.

Key Responsibilities

• Photograph vehicles for online listings, marketing, and inventory purposes.
• Capture high-quality exterior, interior, engine bay, trunk, detail, and undercarriage photographs.
• Safely move and position vehicles to achieve consistent, professional photos.
• Operate both automatic and manual-transmission vehicles.
• Safely position vehicles on an automotive lift and photograph the undercarriage.
• Ensure vehicles are properly positioned and presented before photography.
• Identify and photograph important vehicle features, options, details, and areas of interest.
• Maintain a consistent photography style and process across the inventory.
• Organize and manage photo files accurately so they correspond with the correct vehicles.
• Work efficiently to photograph multiple vehicles while maintaining image quality.
• Handle classic, collector, specialty, and high-value vehicles with appropriate care.
• Keep photography areas and equipment clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Coordinate with other team members to ensure vehicles are photographed and listings are completed in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Must be able to confidently drive a manual-transmission vehicle.
• Must be comfortable driving vehicles onto and positioning them on an automotive lift.
• Must be comfortable working around a raised vehicle to photograph the undercarriage.
• Basic photography skills and an understanding of composition, lighting, and image quality.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and stay productive throughout the day.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow established processes.
• Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Ability to safely work around vehicles, automotive equipment, and shop environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous automotive photography or inventory photography experience.
• Familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless cameras and basic photo-editing software.
• Knowledge of classic, collector, exotic, Japanese-market, or specialty vehicles.
• General automotive knowledge and the ability to recognize noteworthy vehicle features and details.
• Experience working around automotive lifts or in an automotive/shop environment.

What We're Looking For

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys both photography and automobiles and isn't afraid to be hands-on. You should be equally comfortable lining up the perfect exterior shot, climbing into a vehicle to photograph interior details, driving a manual-transmission car, and putting a vehicle on a lift to document its underside.

Because many of the vehicles are unique, collectible, or difficult to replace, care, patience, and respect for the inventory are essential. We are looking for someone who can produce great photos while handling every vehicle responsibly.
