Position Summary
Seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to support bi-weekly payroll processing, timecard audits, payroll corrections, and employee pay inquiries. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Support bi-weekly payroll processing and payroll-related activities.
- Review and audit employee timecards for accuracy and completeness.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay issues.
- Coordinate with HR, supervisors, and departments to correct timekeeping and payroll errors.
- Process retroactive pay adjustments and payroll corrections.
- Review pay statements and investigate compensation questions.
- Ensure payroll transactions follow organizational policies and union contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Analyze payroll data and assist with reporting and reconciliation.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with high-volume bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Experience auditing time records and payroll transactions.
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
- Experience researching and resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
- Understanding of payroll processes, wage calculations, and applicable regulations.
- Knowledge of union contracts, including overtime, differentials, and special pay.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework.
- Experience with Workday or PeopleSoft Payroll.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Payroll audit, reconciliation, or compliance experience.
- Experience in higher education, healthcare, public sector, or large organizations.
- Experience supporting payroll process improvements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working with large amounts of payroll data. They should be able to investigate issues, communicate effectively with employees and management, follow up on corrections, and maintain accuracy while working under strict payroll deadlines.
