PMI Inc. is seeking an experienced Steel Stud / Drywall / Framing Project Estimator to join our team. This position will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects involving steel stud framing, drywall, metal framing, and related scopes of work.


Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural and structural plans, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents to determine project scope.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for steel stud framing, drywall, metal framing, ceilings, shaftwall, blocking, backing, insulation, and related scopes.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
  • Perform digital takeoffs using PlanSwift or similar estimating software.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to identify project requirements, scope, and potential issues.
  • Identify inclusions, exclusions, allowances, alternates, and potential cost impacts.
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from material suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Compare quotes and verify that pricing accurately reflects the project scope.
  • Apply appropriate labor rates, production rates, waste factors, overhead, and profit to estimates.
  • Identify potential risks, discrepancies, omissions, and constructability concerns during the estimating process.
  • Prepare detailed and organized bid proposals.
  • Track bid invitations, deadlines, revisions, and addenda.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, vendors, subcontractors, and company leadership during the estimating and bidding process.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs when required.
  • Assist with value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Review completed estimates with management prior to bid submission.
  • Assist with project turnover after a successful bid to ensure the project team understands the estimate, scope, assumptions, exclusions, and other relevant details.
  • Maintain organized estimating files and supporting documentation.
  • Stay current on construction material pricing, labor costs, production rates, and industry practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

​Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably with steel stud framing, drywall, and/or interior framing.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong project management skills
