Modern Compactor Repair is looking for a driven, personable Compactor Sales Technician to grow our footprint in repair services, preventative maintenance (PM) contracts, and compactor/baler rentals. This is a hybrid sales and technical-advisory role: you'll visit commercial and industrial sites, assess compactor equipment, and sell the right mix of repair, maintenance, and rental solutions to keep customers' operations running without unplanned downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and sell compactor and baler repair services, PM contracts, and rental agreements to commercial and industrial accounts (retail, grocery, food service, manufacturing, distribution, multifamily, and hospitality).
- Conduct on-site equipment assessments and inspections to identify repair, maintenance, or rental opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with facilities managers, property managers, operations directors, and waste haulers.
- Prepare and present quotes and proposals for repair work, PM contracts, and rental agreements; negotiate pricing and contract terms.
- Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, site visits, proposal development, closing, and handoff to the service team.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, quotes, and account activity in the CRM.
- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets across services, PM contracts, and rentals.
- Coordinate with service technicians and dispatch to ensure smooth onboarding of new maintenance and rental accounts.
- Monitor competitor activity, market pricing, and customer equipment lifecycle to identify renewal and upsell opportunities.
- Represent Modern Compactor Repair at trade shows, property management associations, and networking events as needed.
- Maintain a working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical compactor systems sufficient to speak credibly with customers about equipment condition and needs (hands-on repair is not required).
Qualifications
- 2+ years of outside or B2B sales experience; experience in industrial equipment, waste/recycling, or facilities services strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with compactors, balers, or similar industrial/mechanical equipment is a plus.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable managing an independent sales territory or route.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable using CRM software and basic quoting/proposal tools.
- Ability to read basic technical specifications and translate them into customer-facing recommendations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, business, or sales-related coursework a plus.
