Service Manager - High-Volume Upscale Dining

Position Overview
A high-volume, modern full-service restaurant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is seeking a proactive, floor-focused Service Manager to lead front-of-house operations, elevate service standards, and drive team growth.
This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong floor presence, and has a passion for guest hospitality, staff development, and elevated beverage service.
Key Responsibilities
- Floor Leadership & Service: Direct daily shift operations, build floor plans, conduct dynamic pre-shift meetings, and step in as Maitre D or service support as needed during peak rushes.
- Team Management & Development: Coach, evaluate, and mentor FOH hourly staff to foster high retention, accountability, and a supportive team culture.
- Beverage & Wine Focus: Drive beverage sales by testing, training, and inspiring staff on wine, spirits, and menu knowledge.
- FOH/BOH Coordination: Act as the primary operational liaison between front-of-house and back-of-house teams to maintain seamless service flow and handle guest accommodations.
- Guest Engagement: Conduct active table touches, handle guest recovery professionally, and curate guest feedback to build continuous regulars.
- Operations & Compliance: Oversee opening/closing procedures, maintain venue environmental settings (lighting, audio, cleanliness), and enforce NYC health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of restaurant management experience in a high-volume, upscale full-service establishment.
- Certification: Active NYC Food Protection Certificate required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with POS systems and reservation management software.
- Product Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with wine sales and structured staff training.
- Soft Skills: Calm under pressure, exceptional conflict-resolution capabilities, and strong communication skills.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
