Pharmacist
Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Pharmacist to join our compounding pharmacy team. This position combines traditional community pharmacy responsibilities with hands-on pharmaceutical compounding in a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate is committed to providing exceptional patient care while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in both retail pharmacy operations and sterile/non-sterile compounding.
Essential Responsibilities
Retail Pharmacy Duties
- Verify prescription accuracy, appropriateness, and legality before dispensing.
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, storage, and adherence.
- Collaborate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions and optimize medication therapy.
- Oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and regulatory compliance.
- Manage prescription processing, dispensing, inventory control, and medication ordering.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, HIPAA requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Compounding Laboratory Duties
- Prepare and verify sterile and non-sterile compounded medications according to USP <795>, USP <797>, USP <800>, and applicable state regulations.
- Perform final verification of compounded preparations for accuracy, quality, labeling, and documentation.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and quality assurance standards.
- Review formulas, calculations, ingredient compatibility, and stability information.
- Monitor laboratory equipment, environmental controls, cleaning schedules, and documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, internal audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Train and mentor pharmacy technicians in proper compounding techniques and compliance standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
- Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Georgia.
- Knowledge of USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
- Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in both patient-facing and laboratory environments.
Preferred
- Previous experience in sterile and/or non-sterile compounding preferred but not required.
- Community pharmacy experience.
- Experience with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity required for precise compounding procedures.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in the laboratory.
- Ability to work in cleanroom and controlled environments for extended periods.
Work Environment
This position requires working in both a retail pharmacy setting and a compounding laboratory. The pharmacist will interact directly with patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff while also performing precise compounding activities in accordance with applicable regulatory and quality standards.

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
