Part-Time: Personal Assistant for Mild, Non-Verbal Autistic Child

Pay - $25/hour
Part time, Permanent Position, 15 or 16 hours/week (on average)
Monday – Friday: 4 to 5 shifts and flexible times 9:00am to 7:00pm
Start Date – Immediate (after background check and direct deposit set up)
*Additional hours may be available (but not required) for special occasions, events, emergencies, and overnight.

Are you passionate about making a positive and lasting difference in the life of a child with special needs? A private family based on the south side of Redding, California is currently hiring for a part time personal assistant, to a 6 year old child with non-verbal autism. This is NOT a babysitting or respite position, but an instructional and supportive one.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
18 or older.
Reliable transportation.
Can pass a background check.
Drug and smoke free.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Great with children.
Upbeat and energetic.
Excellent physical stamina.
Patient and kind.
Ability to work independently.
CPR certification a plus but not required.
Experience working with special needs children a plus but not required.
Willingness to work occasional late night or overnight shifts a plus but not required (client sometimes has sleeping issues and will sometimes stay up very late. Preference will be given to candidates who are open to on-call late night shifts, which would be a babysitting shift paid at the same hourly rate.)
Examples of Job Duties
Ensuring client safety both at home and in the community.
Assisting client with gaining physical skills such as riding a bicycle with training wheels and dancing/large scale movement.
Potty training.
Assisting client with fine motor skills.
Encouraging client to try new foods through exposure and play.
Practicing skills related to the client's school directed IEP goals.
Exposing client to new textures and sensory based activities.
Re-enforcing life skill related goals, such as self-dressing, cleaning, hand washing, etc.
Help client communicate through use of an assisted communication tablet.
Accompanying client on family outings to ensure safety and maximum enjoyment and participation.
Engaging the client with his toys in exciting, novel, and participatory ways.
Following communication (ABA) related activities from booklet.
Carrying out development goals as set by the parents.
Your job site location would be primarily in the client's residence, with some work at off-site locations such as parks, Turtle Bay, restaurants, school sponsored, community, and special events.
