Job Description
Inspector (Code Enforcement) - SUMMARY OF PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: Inspects new and existing buildings, structures, and other properties to enforce conformance with various Parish codes; monitors violations progress, processes violations, writes reports, maintains all necessary reports and records pertaining to inspections and code enforcement actions to substantiate code violations and prepares for case hearings. QUALIFICATIONS: In order to meet the minimum qualifications for this position, applicants must have obtained a high school diploma or GED and have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience associated with law enforcement, security, or similar work in an enforcement-type regulatory field. Experience as a nuisance abatement officer or litter control officer preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Louisiana driver’s license and driving record acceptable to Parish’s Risk Manager. OTHER: Requires ability to interpret Parish regulations and procedures, collect, and analyze information to prepare reports; work independently with minimal supervision; basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and ability to learn and utilize department-specific software required. Required licenses must be kept current throughout employment with the Parish.
