Job Summary
- Assist patients with selecting frames
- Obtain measurements for glasses orders
- Adjust frames and lenses to fit correctly on patients faces
- Order frames, lenses and contacts from prescription laboratories
- Manage inventory of frames
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selection of best eyewear for their individual needs
- Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit patient’s individual needs.
- Measure patient’s pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes.
- Place orders for frames, lenses and contacts from prescription laboratories
- Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients, using pliers and hands.
- Maintain records of frame inventory, invoices and patient orders
- Verify that finished lenses are ground to specifications.
Skills
- Friendly customer service and skilled ophthalmic sales
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly for interpreting prescriptions and checking lenses
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly to patients
- Familiarity with optical products
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to meet deadlines

3+ years as dispensing optician
ABO Certification (preferred)
