Multilingual Customer Service Rep (English/Ukrainian/Russian)
Job Description
Handzel & Associates | Schaumburg, IL | Full-time
About Us
Handzel & Associates grew out of one man's dream, and we've been protecting Chicagoland families and businesses since 1989. We're an independent agency that specializes where most generalize — commercial trucking and transportation are a big part of what we do, and our clients stay because we pick up the phone and we solve the problem.
Inside the agency, we run on one rule: raise your hand when you need help. Nobody is expected to figure it out alone, and nobody gets a hard time for asking. If you've worked somewhere that left you buried in your own queue with no backup, this is the opposite of that.
The Role
You'll be the first voice our Ukrainian-speaking trucking clients hear — owner-operators and fleets who need a certificate today, a driver added mid-week, a renewal that can't slip. You'll handle their policy documents, their changes, and the relationship itself.
Trucking moves fast, so this is a busy phone and a full inbox. If you like the rhythm of that, and you get satisfaction out of leaving someone better off than you found them, you'll do well here.
Why You'll Want This Job
- We'll pay for your license. If you're not yet P&C licensed, we cover study materials and exam fees. You'll have three months from your start date, and support the whole way.
- There's a real path up. Our Customer Care Representatives move into Account Manager and Sales Producer roles. That's the normal trajectory here, not the exception.
- Your hours are your hours. Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm. No evenings, no weekends.
- Hybrid flexibility after six months. You'll start on-site so you can learn the book and the team. At six months, work-from-home flexibility opens up.
-
Health insurance, 401(k) with a generous match, and competitive PTO.
What You'll Do
- Client communication. Answer and screen calls, and keep clients informed by phone and email — ideally before they have to ask.
- Policy documents. Process and issue declaration pages, renewals, endorsements, and certificates of insurance, quickly and accurately.
- Billing. Take payments and handle everyday billing questions.
- Renewal reviews. Reach out ahead of renewals, review coverage, and pass multi-line opportunities to our producers.
- Relationships. Get to know your clients well enough that they ask for you by name.
-
Problem-solving. Work with the rest of the team to close out issues, and keep clean records of interactions, changes, and document status.
What You Need
- Ukrainian and English fluency, written and verbal. (Required.) Russian is a strong plus.
- Insurance experience. You've worked in an agency or carrier environment and you know how policies, endorsements, and certificates actually work. (Required.)
- Property & Casualty license within three months of hire — sponsored by us if you don't have one yet.
- Organized under pressure. You can hold several things at once, prioritize on the fly, and stay steady when the phone doesn't stop.
- Comfortable with technology. Microsoft Office and CRM/AMS systems.
- Trucking or commercial auto experience is a meaningful plus.
Location & Schedule
