Direct Care, Youth with Intellectual Disabilities

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

We are looking to hire several candidates for our Direct Support Professional (DSP) roles! These positions are available in four-bed, licensed facilities designed to provide 24-hour intensive behavioral support services to kids with developmental disabilities and severe challenging behavior.

Job Expectations: The job requires providing direct care in a person-centered manner, ensuring that the resident's unique needs, preferences, and goals are at the center of every interaction. These roles also require the capacity to effectively manage crises by providing responses that ensure the physical well-being, as well as the emotional and psychological comfort of the clients. Staff will be expected to execute the following duties:

• Provide care and training to the individuals as outlined in the Individual Program (IPP).
• Implement behavior strategies identified in the Individual Behavior Support Plan or Individualized Emergency Intervention Plan.
• Comply with facility policies and regulations.
• Provide and supervise recreational activities in the facility and the community.
• Keep the facility neat and clean.
• Prepare nutritional meals and snacks as specified by prepared menus.
• Supervise eating.
• Provide a home-like setting for all individuals living in the home.
• Understand and follow individuals’ rights.
• Assist individuals with self-administration of prescribed medications.
• Recognize early signs of illness and the need for professional assistance.
• Utilize necessary community services and resources.
• Make and keep necessary doctor, dentist, eye doctor, etc. appointments.
• Keep on-going notes as required by the regional center.
• Promote special events for individuals (birthdays, dances, community outings, etc.).
• Attend individual conferences as may be required.
• Observe individuals’ conditions and behaviors, documenting in on-going notes significant issues as they occur and notify administrator and/or doctor as needed. Report occurrences to oncoming shifts, if appropriate. Make all necessary Special Incident Reports.
• Assist the administrator in making full use of emergency resources.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Administrator or designee.
• Be trained regarding abuse reporting, including the new law concerning reporting physical abuse to law enforcement, Ombudsman, licensing, etc., within two hours, and how to complete the document SOC 341 Suspected Abuse Form, and that a copy of the SOC 341 must be sent to Community Care Licensing, the Regional Center and Child Protective Services.

Candidates considered for Lead positions must complete RBT certification within 60 days of employment, or already have an active RBT certificate.

Schedule:

We currently have Part-Time and Full-Time positions available. Our available shifts are:

• Weekday Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Weekend Day Shift: (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
• Weekend Evening Shift: (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)

All shifts are scheduled to provide 24/7 care for our residents, giving our employees flexibility and peace of mind. We do not offer "half shifts" or anything of that nature. Staff are expected to remain onsite for the entirety of their shift.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have a CA driver’s license that is current, clean of any major violations and without restrictions.
• Must be able to pass a DOJ background check and obtain fingerprint clearance.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be in good health, and shall be physically, mentally, and occupationally capable of performing required tasks. Good physical health shall be verified by a Health screening/physical, including a Test for tuberculosis (TB test), performed by or under the supervision of a physician not more than one year prior to or before employment.

Education:

• High School Diploma (Required).
• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Preferred).

Work Experience:

• Six months' prior experience providing direct care and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities or related conditions, with a focus on behavioral services.

License/ Certification:

• Be certified in hands-on CPR/First Aid, prior to providing direct resident care on hire and annually thereafter.
• Become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within 365-days of initial employment or be either a Licensed Psychiatric Technician or a Qualified Behavior Modification Professional (QBMP) and maintain certificate as required by the certifying board/agency.
• Must attain Direct Support Professional I Certification within the first year of hire, and the Direct Support Professional II Certification within the first year of hire.
