Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: Mostly prevailing wage, Shop or base rate based on experience, license class, and equipment specialization

Location: Central MA And surrounding areas, Must be willing to travel some when necessary


About the Role

Bear Excavation is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our crew. You’ll work across active excavation and site development jobs, running a range of equipment safely and efficiently to keep projects on schedule.


Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, bulldozers, loaders, dump trucks, and skid steers/compact equipment on active job sites

• Perform site prep, grading, trenching, and utility/drainage installation

• Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections

• Follow all OSHA and job-site safety protocols

• Coordinate with crew members to keep jobs moving

• Report equipment issues and maintenance needs promptly


What We’re Looking For

We want a self-starter and a leader — someone who can take ownership of a job and see it through from start to finish with minimal oversight.


Requirements

• Massachusetts Hoisting License 2A (Hydraulics) — required

• Minimum 5 years of verifiable heavy equipment operating experience

• Current DOT medical certificate

• OSHA 10 certification (minimum)

• Hands-on experience with excavators, dozers, loaders, dump trucks, and/or skid steers

• Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus

• Reliable transportation to job sites

• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
