Line Cooks

Cafe Corazon is looking for cooks. Also perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates.

· Prepare a variety of meats, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.

· Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.

· Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area.

· Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.

· Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.

· Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.

· Open and close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assist others in opening and closing the kitchen.

Requirements

The Perfect Candidate Will Possess the Following Skills and Qualification:

· A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.

· At least 6 months’ experience in a similar capacity.

· Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel.

· Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

· Willing and able to assist and support all team members.

· Serve safe certification as required by state health code.

· Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift to 40 pounds.

Café Corazón was opened by George and Wendy Mireles in 2009 in Riverwest. Pulling inspiration from their time living in the San Francisco Bay Area, they sought to bring fresh Latin cuisine to Brown Deer & Milwaukee. Using beef and produce from Wendy's family's farm, supporting local farmers, and growing produce at their own urban garden, Café Corazón has been committed to serving the freshest local fare for both meat eaters and vegan/vegetarians.
