Insulation Crew Leader (in Training)
Job Description
Insulation Commandos of Denton-Tarrant is hiring an Insulation Crew Chief in Training to become a field leader for our installation team. This role is designed for someone who wants to lead jobs the right way, protect quality, train others, and take full ownership of jobsite execution.
During the first 1–3 months, you will complete hands-on training alongside leadership and experienced team members before taking over your own crew. Once training is complete, you will be responsible for leading insulation jobs from start to finish, ensuring each phase is completed in the correct order, to company standard, and with a high level of customer satisfaction.
This is not just a labor position. A Crew Chief is responsible for leading the entire job, maintaining quality control, communicating with customers, solving problems in the field, training installers, and making sure the crew performs every step correctly and efficiently.
What You’ll Do During Training
- Learn our full installation process, standards, and step-by-step workflow
- Train on insulation removal and installation, air sealing, rodent mitigation, radiant barrier, and related services
- Learn how to operate vacuum and blower equipment safely and correctly
- Shadow leadership on customer communication, jobsite organization, and quality control
- Learn how to complete job checklists, documentation, and required photo uploads
- Demonstrate the ability to identify mistakes, correct issues, and maintain company standards before moving to the next phase of work
What You’ll Do Once You Lead Your Own Crew
- Lead a crew in the field and ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standard
- Verify each stage of the job is completed correctly before the crew moves to the next step
- Maintain quality control throughout the installation process
- Fill in gaps immediately when work is incomplete or below standard
- Troubleshoot jobsite issues as they arise
- Train installers when not actively troubleshooting
- Keep the crew organized, efficient, and working in the proper order
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, property owners, contractors, and team leadership
- Provide updates to the GM/Production Manager throughout the day
- Complete the Crew Chief Job Execution Checklist and upload photos of each installation step
- Represent the company professionally and help deliver a 5-star customer experience
Required Step Sign-Off Responsibility
A Crew Chief is responsible for checking off and approving each step before the crew moves forward. No step is considered complete until it has been verified to company standard.
This includes:
- Walkthrough
- Set up
- Prep
- Vacuum
- Sanitizing / Deodorizing
- Air sealing
- Rodent Mitigation
- Baffles
- Batts
- Blow-in
- Final Walkthrough
This sign-off process is the core function of the Crew Chief role. It ensures:
- Quality is maintained
- Mistakes are caught early
- Installers are trained properly
- Jobs stay organized and efficient
- The finished product meets company standards
Qualifications
- Previous insulation, construction, or related field experience is preferred
- Ability to lead others, communicate clearly, and stay organized on the jobsite
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, elevated areas, and varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Willingness to complete training and follow company systems
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers and leadership

- Run and understand vacuum and blower equipment correctly
- Use tools safely and efficiently

- Install baffles and rodent grates properly
- Recognize and correct mistakes before moving to the next step
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and efficiency on the jobsite
- Lead professionally and communicate clearly
- Complete Crew Chief training, including hands-on skills testing and leadership development
