Essential Functions:
- Be awake, alert, creative, patient, innovative, and organized and available to assist residents at all times.
- Supervise and assist residents during meal preparation, housekeeping responsibilities, personal hygiene, grooming and other activities as needed.
- Complete records as designated by policies and procedures such as, but not limited to; documentation of training classes, progress notes, medication leave reports and any behavioral management programs.
- Provide input to individual program planning for residents. Train/instruct residents in areas in individual program plan under the training system established by the QIDP/CM, including supervision of residents in day program activities on various life, social and vocational skills
- Be aware of the approximate location of all residents on assigned building.
- Supervise and assist residents in recreational activities both on campus and off campus.
- Assist in general upkeep and repair of facility such as, but not limited to: keeping inside and outside of vehicles clean and ensuring sufficient gasoline level for next usage, cleaning of facility grounds and/or buildings, and informing appropriate management staff for resolving noted problems areas.
- Teach independent living skills classes, supervise and assist participants with meal preparation, prompt and assist participants with personal hygiene, grooming and other activities as needed.
- Check attendance logs and service logs for accuracy and ensure they are turned in a timely manner.
- Make written reports of significant incidents that occur and inform appropriate staff if needed.
- Correct unacceptable behavior and help participants meet the necessary requirements of the day program rules.
- Provide first-aid as needed to participants and assist in the follow through on medical needs.
- Assist in maintaining all necessary supplies for day program such as: cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies, office supplies and supplies needed for classes.
- Assist and ensure general cleanliness and repair of day program and inform appropriate staff for resolving any areas that need repair.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Director/ Asst. Director
- Report suspected abuse & neglect to supervisor immediately (within one hour).
- Safely provide transportation to participants on outings in the community, medical appointments if needed, volunteer assignments, and other scheduled community events.
- Shows compassion, builds rapport and encourages participants in order for them to develop into their full potential.
- Keeps participants on task and redirects focus.
- Works with staff throughout Mary Lee Foundation to meet the needs of each participant in day habilitation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Must attend a four (4) day orientation (occurs 8a-5p Mon-Fri)
- Current valid Driver License, and acceptable driving record required
- Experience working with people with disabilities
- Basic knowledge and skills in Office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and ability to learn new software in a reasonable time
- Takes initiative and works independently or with other persons within the program, without supervisory directions.
- Consistently complies with all Marylee Foundation policies and procedures
- Is positive and professional with all people in daily interactions
- Willing to teach a small group of clients in a classroom setting with different levels of needs
- Willing to work with a Hoyer lift, be able to do a 2 person transfer or a one person transfer to a wheelchair
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
