Yard Operator

Entry-level ShipYard Worker (often categorized under grounds maintenance, material handling, or warehouse/depot operations) Performs manual labor to maintain military installation grounds, supply yards, or storage depots. Duties include mowing grass, trimming vegetation, loading and unloading equipment or supplies, and performing basic facility upkeep. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Grounds and Yard Maintenance

• Mow lawns, pull weeds, edge walkways, and prune shrubs.
• Sweep or blow debris from walkways, parking lots, and loading areas.
• Clear snow and ice from paths or operational areas during winter.

Material and Equipment Handling

• Load and unload freight, tools, or supplies from trucks and storage bays.
• Move heavy boxes, parts, or landscaping materials around the facility yard.

Equipment Care and Safety

• Clean, fuel, and perform basic daily checks on mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
