Under the direction of the IFS Drug & Alcohol Program Facility Director, and guidance of a clinical supervisor, provides drug & alcohol assessments, individual, group, and family therapy in an outpatient and intensive outpatient setting for drug and alcohol treatment services. The IFS Drug & Alcohol Counselor will work within a treatment team format with other IFS Drug & Alcohol Counselors and IFS support staff under the direction of the IFS Facility Director and guidance of a clinical supervisor.

  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy techniques.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to address urgent mental health or substance use issues, ensuring client safety and stabilization.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA and CFR Part 2 regulations.
  • Facilitate group therapy 1-2 nights per week from 4-7pm while ensuring a therapeutic atmosphere and compliant documentation.

  • Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or other related field.
  • Preferred experience in outpatient addiction counseling or behavioral health settings with a focus on substance use disorders.
  • Preferred Pennsylvania Certification Board certified counselor (AAC, CADC, CAADC)
  • Preferred background in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, crisis management, and case management.
