Industrial Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
II.DEFINITION:
Performs routine to skilled level installation, repair, maintenance, and remodeling of pumping, processing,and related systems and equipment; conducts welding and fabrication of various metal assemblies,performs mechanical and limited electrical troubleshooting, and problem diagnosis. Perform routinebuilding and ground maintenance as required.
III.EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
•Understand the operation and be able to perform maintenance, replacement, and similar tasks ofthe following typical types of equipment:
•Pumps
•Valves
•Motors
•Chains
•Drives
•Chemical Feed Pumps
•Electric and Hydraulic Valve Operators
•Pressure Regulators
•Air Release Valves
•Water Treatment Equipment
•Electrical Power Equipment
•Electrical Controls
•Cut and join metal parts
•Design and fabricate metal parts and structures
•Report status of maintenance projects to supervisory maintenance personnel.
•Designs and fabricates equipment and parts to meet special or unusual needs by welding
•Report supply and/or ordering issues to the inventory clerk as necessary.
•Assist in the loading and unloading of supplies delivered to the plant.
•Perform routine maintenance of buildings, including heating and air conditioning systems.
•Replace windows, doors, screens, etc., as necessary throughout the plant.
•Attend regular training planned and scheduled by the Maintenance Chief.
IV.MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
•High School diploma or GED required.
•Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanics preferred.
•5+ years of mechanical or contractor work experience preferred.
•OSHA Training preferred
V.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
•Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
•Desire to learn and train from superiors.
•Physical ability to be on your feet all day and move heavy equipment. Also be able to perform work involving medium physical exertion, such as climbing, balancing, and lifting. Confined space entry.
•Must have sense perception such as hearing, visual acuity, color vision, etc.
