Aviation Technician(Overhaul)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technician to perform overhaul, repair, inspection, testing, and maintenance of aircraft oxygen masks, oxygen cylinders, fire extinguishers, and other aviation components.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, experience using hand tools and testing equipment, and the ability to read technical manuals and follow detailed procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Overhaul and repair fire extinguishers, oxygen masks, cylinders, and regulator assemblies.
• Receive, inspect, and evaluate equipment and components.
• Complete work orders, inspection records, and other required documentation.
• Test equipment using pressure gauges, flow meters, and other testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues using maintenance manuals and established procedures.
• Torque regulators to cylinders according to OEM specifications.
• Perform hydrostatic testing of oxygen cylinders.
• Properly use tools, equipment, materials, and PPE.
• Identify and report potentially unsafe conditions.
• Follow all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in the use of hand tools.
• Experience working with high-pressure oxygen is preferred/required.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform work accurately.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• A&P certification is strongly preferred.
• Previous aircraft/aviation industry experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands and arms regularly.
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling, holding, and grasping tools and components.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Must have adequate close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Primarily an indoor shop/manufacturing environment.
• Limited exposure to outdoor heat or cold when moving between buildings or during shipping/receiving activities.
• Safety glasses and safety-toed shoes are required in designated work areas.
• Must follow all workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Additional Requirements

• Must successfully complete FAA pre-employment Drug and Alcohol testing.
• Due to U.S. Government contracts, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders.
• Approximately 5–10% travel may be required to other AMETEK/Ameron MRO business or customer locations.
• Must be willing to work in a hands-on technical environment.
