Position: Onboarding & Career Placement Administrator

Location: Fairfax, Virginia

Compensation: $50,000 (10% commission on each job placement achieved)

Position Overview

Ground Up Trade & Talent Solutions (GUTTS) launched in 2022 with a bold model that blends accredited skilled‐trades training with hands‐on job placement and employer partnerships. The GUTTS Opportunity and Impact Fund — a not‐for‐profit project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE) — trains people for high‐demand trades and places them directly into jobs.

Across the DMV, men and women — especially Veterans, women, and career‐transitioning adults — face steep barriers to entering high‐wage skilled trades, even as employers struggle to fill essential roles. GUTTS expands access to accredited training, while Ground Up Trade & Talent Solutions LLC drives employer engagement and placement. Together, we deliver a seamless, outcomes‐driven pathway from training to employment.

The core focus of this role is marketing GUTTS graduates to employers and securing job placements — this is not a traditional recruitment job. You won’t be sitting behind a desk posting openings; you’ll be out in the field meeting companies, contractors, and industry partners, promoting the GUTTS workforce‐readiness model, and selling the GUTTS product: skilled, job‐ready graduates who are prepared to work on day one.

As students approach graduation, you will market their résumés, refine them in the GUTTS template, and actively promote each graduate to employers through direct outreach, site visits, relationship building, and coordinated interviews. You’ll strengthen hiring pipelines across Plumbing, HVAC, and our soon‐to‐launch

Electrical program by showing employers how GUTTS solves their workforce shortages.

You will also manage incoming inquiries from prospective students, respond to online leads, and schedule tours, assessments, and orientations. Throughout the training cycle, you’ll support students with job‐readiness coaching and maintain communication with employers. After placement, you’ll conduct 45‐day follow‐ups with both graduates and hiring partners to ensure retention and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

This role blends recruitment, employer engagement, field outreach, and career placement — all with the mission of helping men and women launch high‐wage careers in the skilled trades.

Key Responsibilities

Student Recruitment & Pipeline Development

• Manage pipeline of applicants.
• Partner with the Marketing team and CEO to execute recruitment strategies and meet enrollment targets.
• Support social media posting and digital outreach for Plumbing, HVAC, and upcoming Electrical programs.
• Strengthen and expand referral pipelines with:
• • Community organizations
  • Youth organizations
  • Workforce agencies
  • Veteran‐serving groups
  • Local nonprofits
  • Individuals restarting their careers

Represent GUTTS at job fairs, community events, and information sessions.

• Conduct outreach, screening, follow‐up, facility tours, assessments, interviews, and orientations.
• Maintain accurate recruitment data in the CRM and track conversion metrics to refine strategies.
• Develop targeted recruitment campaigns for:

  • Transitioning veterans
  • Career‐changing adults
  • At‐risk youth
  • Individuals facing socioeconomic barriers

Ensure all recruitment aligns with the GUTTS mission: Train, Place, Prosper.

Employer Engagement & Job Placement

• Support employer engagement activities, hiring pipelines, and placement outcomes; report directly to the CEO.
• Build strong, positive relationships with contractors, companies, and industry partners, showcasing GUTTS as the future of workforce readiness.
• Start and maintain consistent employment pipelines across Plumbing, HVAC, and the upcoming Electrical program.

Graduate Job Readiness & Transition Support

• Coordinate with the Office Manager to prepare graduates for interviews and workplace expectations.
• Deliver job readiness support using GUTTS templates, including:
• • Mock interviews and interview coaching
  • Soft skills and workplace professionalism training

Provide individualized support during job offer navigation, onboarding, and early employment.

• Conduct follow‐up with placed graduates to support retention and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience in sales, employer engagement, workforce development, or related fields.
• Strong relationship‐building and communication skills—and a willingness to have fun while doing meaningful work.
• Strong presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• General knowledge of construction or the skilled trades preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with the Washington, D.C. metro area.
• Basic knowledge familiarity with construction industry.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and coordinate with operations staff.

The GUTTS Program includes Plumbing and HVAC Pre-Apprentice Courses that provide individuals with classroom and lab training segueing into jobs and apprenticeships. After completing the course, GUTTS provides students with Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Certificate and GUTTS State of Virginia Department of Professional Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Certification of 72 Hours toward accredited pre-apprenticeship and a tool bag with all the hand tools needed start on their first day as an apprentice.
