Eyewear Consultant/Frame Stylist

New Bern Family Eye Care is seeking an Eyewear Consultant to join our optical team. This position is a great fit for someone who is comfortable working directly with patients, takes pride in their work, and is confident guiding patients through eyewear selection with professionalism and attention to detail.

New Bern Family Eye Care is an independently owned Optometry clinic located in Craven County, just off HWY 70 in Trent Woods. In addition, we have three other local practices that serve our patients—Creekside Family Eye Care, Pamlico Family Eye Care, and SpecialEyes Pediatric & Special Needs Vision Clinic.

Scope of Responsibilities

• Advise patients on eyewear selection based on individual needs and lifestyle
• Assist with frame and lens selection using doctor recommendations and product knowledge
• Accurately collect eyewear measurements and ensure proper frame fit
• Clearly explain pricing, office policies, and vision insurance benefits
• Perform finishing lab work, including eyewear assembly, adjustments, repairs, and tinting
• Apply knowledge of lens fabrication, mounting, and verification
• Maintain a clean, organized optical gallery, lab, and frame inventory
• Educate patients on eyewear adaptation, care, and cleaning

Qualifications

• Previous optical experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong customer service and sales skills
• Friendly, outgoing, and confident communication style when interacting with patients and team members
• Experience with EHR systems and medical records
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
