Position Overview

Protection Technologies LLC is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Fire Alarm & Low Voltage Technician to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can confidently install, program, troubleshoot, and commission fire alarm and low-voltage systems while also guiding junior technicians in the field. The ideal candidate is highly experienced in fire alarm systems, code-compliant installations, and leading projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fire Alarm Systems (Primary Focus)

    • Lead fire alarm installations from rough-in through final inspection and system turnover
    • Program, configure, and commission fire alarm control panels and networked systems
    • Perform full system testing including device verification, signaling, and panel functionality
    • Troubleshoot panels, field devices, wiring issues, and communication faults
    • Ensure full compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements
    • Coordinate and schedule inspections with fire marshals and local officials
    • Complete system inspections (quarterly, semi-annual, and annual testing as required)
    • Prepare inspection reports, deficiency lists, and corrective action documentation
    • Verify device placement, circuit integrity, labeling, and system programming accuracy
    • Maintain as-builts, programming backups, and full system documentation
    • Support system upgrades, retrofits, and panel replacements in commercial and multi-site environments
    • Coordinate with monitoring companies for proper signal verification and testing

2. Low Voltage / Security Systems

    • Install, program, and service CCTV, access control, intercom, and electronic locking systems
    • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling and associated hardware
    • Troubleshoot integrated security and life safety systems
    • Review job scopes and verify materials prior to job start
    • Ensure proper system integration across platforms

3. Leadership & Field Responsibilities

    • Lead and supervise junior technicians on job sites
    • Provide guidance on installation standards, code compliance, and best practices
    • Communicate job progress, issues, and change orders with project management
    • Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and with high-quality standards
    • Maintain clean, organized job sites and proper care of company equipment

Qualifications

    • 3–5+ years of fire alarm installation and service experience
    • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes
    • Hands-on experience programming fire alarm systems (Honeywell, Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Siemens, etc.)
    • Ability to independently run jobs from start to finish
    • Experience leading or mentoring technicians in the field
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and specifications
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
    • Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and communication skills

Preferred Certifications

    • NICET Certification (Level II or higher strongly preferred)
    • Manufacturer certifications (Notifier, Honeywell, Siemens, etc.)
    • OSHA 30 / SST (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)

Physical & Work Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
    • Ability to stand for long periods and work at heights (ladders/lifts)
    • Ability to distinguish wiring colors accurately
    • Travel to multiple job sites (local and East Coast regional work)
    • Flexible schedule and availability

Compensation

    • $55,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience, certifications, and leadership capability
