Maintenance Technician II (30-45 Day project)
Position Overview
As a Maintenance Technician II, you will use your technical skills to support the Operations Maintenance team in repairing and maintaining material handling equipment (MHE) and various supporting systems throughout the building.
This position provides opportunities to install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment while developing technical skills and mentoring junior technicians.
Travel Requirement: At least 80% travel, often for extended periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
- Complete preventative maintenance routines and maintain proper documentation.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including:
- Conveyor belts
- Motors
- Photo-eyes and sensors
- Relays
- Other electrical and mechanical components
- Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment.
- Maintain positive working relationships across Operations.
- Track, organize, and store department inventory.
- Mentor and support junior maintenance technicians.
- Move equipment, parts, and tools weighing up to 49 pounds.
- Stand and walk for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Travel at least 80% of the time, frequently for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
- 2+ years of experience repairing Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- 2+ years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance.
- 1+ year of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
- 1+ year of knowledge and experience with electrical and electronic principles.
- Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with OEM and applicable safety standards.
- Project management experience.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Experience operating and maintaining robotic or electromechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions.
Physical Demands
The position requires the ability to perform:
- Repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, sitting, standing, and walking.
- Lifting parts and tools weighing an average of 20 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 49 pounds.
- Eye/hand and foot coordination.
- Manual dexterity, including:
- Picking
- Pinching
- Holding
- Grasping
- Foot-pedal operation
- Repetitive wrist flexion and rotation.
Working Conditions
Working conditions may include:
- Small or confined spaces.
- Dust, fumes, and odors.
- Hot and cold temperatures.
- Indoor and outdoor environments.
- High levels of noise.

- Standing on concrete for extended periods.
- Wet or uneven surfaces.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of computer systems.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced maintenance technician with strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills, particularly in automated material-handling environments. The candidate should be comfortable working independently, traveling extensively, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, following strict safety procedures, and mentoring less-experienced technicians.
