Maintenance Mechanic
Position Overview
ABH Manufacturing is looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for keeping our equipment running safely, efficiently, and reliably through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
We are looking for someone who not only fixes problems but understands machines deeply, prevents breakdowns before they happen, and helps improve how equipment performs over time.
Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic PLC-controlled equipment
- Troubleshoot machine alarms, error codes, and production issues
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals
- Perform machine start-up, setup, shutdown, and service mode procedures
- Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently at all times
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance across all equipment
- Inspect, clean, lubricate, adjust, and replace worn or failing components
- Identify early signs of equipment failure and take corrective action
- Follow manufacturer maintenance standards and internal PM schedules
- Maintain maintenance logs and documentation
Production Support & Response
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime
- Support production and assembly operations as needed
- Work across multiple departments and facilities when required
- Communicate effectively with production, quality, and leadership teams
Parts, Inventory & Maintenance Systems
- Track and manage maintenance consumables and spare parts
- Partner with Maintenance leadership to order replacement parts
- Maintain organized inventory and maintenance storage areas
- Support maintenance tracking systems and documentation accuracy
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and uptime
- Support process improvements and efficiency initiatives across the plant
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to maintenance and equipment performance
Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical schematics
- Basic understanding of PLC-controlled systems
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measure, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- High attention to detail and sense of urgency in downtime situations
- Forklift experience or ability to become certified
Experience
- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- CNC maintenance or machining experience strongly preferred
- Welding, fabrication, or machine shop experience a plus
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs required
- CMMS or maintenance tracking system experience a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required (technical training preferred)
