Plastic Surgery Certified First Assistant / Scrub Tech

Location: Celebration, FL

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented First Assistant / Scrub Tech to join our elite private plastic surgery practice. In this role, you will work side-by-side with our plastic surgeon in our private surgical suite, acting as a critical "second set of hands" during high-end cosmetic and reconstructive procedures.

Core Responsibilities

Intra-Operative & Surgical Assisting

  • First Assist Duties: Actively assist the surgeon by holding retractors, providing clear suctioning, managing bleeding (hemostasis), and cutting sutures. Experience in closure if surgical incisions.
  • Scrub Duties: Maintain an immaculate sterile field; anticipate the surgeon's needs to seamlessly pass instruments during facelifts, breast augmentations, rhinoplasties, and liposuction.
  • Safety & Accuracy: Perform precise instrument, sponge, and needle counts; strictly follow all office-based surgical safety protocols.
  • Sterilization: Insturment sterilization.
  • Inventory: Ordering of inventory items.

Pre- & Post-Operative Patient Care

  • Case Prep: Set up the OR, sterilize instrument packs, and prepare specialized cosmetic supplies, implants, and sizers.
  • Patient Transition: Comfortably position patients pre-op, assist with surgical draping, and safely transition them into post-op compression garments.
  • Photography: Assist with taking standardized, high-quality pre- and post-operative clinical photos while maintaining absolute patient privacy.

Other Duties (when not in surgery):.

  • Inventory Control: Monitor, restock, and organize surgical supplies, implants, garments, and specialized clinical inventory.
  • Pre-op visits.
  • Post-op visits.
  • Assist in clinic with Providers.
  • Assist as needed with surgery scheduling (Patient Care Coordinator).

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: Prior experience as a Scrub Tech or First Assistant in a surgical setting is required. Specific experience in plastic, cosmetic, or aesthetic surgery is highly preferred.
  • Certification: CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) is preferred, but equivalent hands-on surgical experience will be heavily considered.
  • Soft Skills: Polished, professional demeanor suitable for a luxury private practice; exceptional eye for detail and strong discretion regarding patient privacy.
