Production Operator

Job Summary:

Job Type: Temp to Hire

The Production Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring manufacturing equipment used in the production of automotive components, including injection molded plastic parts and polyurethane foam products. This position ensures products are manufactured according to quality standards, production schedules, and safety requirements while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Operator performs equipment setup, process monitoring, quality inspections, material handling, and basic maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate injection molding machines, foam production equipment, molds, and related manufacturing systems according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Set up, monitor, and adjust process parameters including temperature, pressure, cycle times, material ratios, and curing times.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify process deviations, defects, and equipment malfunctions.
• Assist with equipment setup, mold changes, cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance activities.
• Meet daily production, quality, and efficiency targets.

Quality Assurance:

• Perform first article inspections (FAI) and in-process quality checks.
• Inspect products for dimensional accuracy, appearance, density, hardness, and conformance to specifications.
• Identify, document, and report nonconforming products and process issues.
• Support containment, rework, corrective actions, and scrap reduction efforts.
• Maintain accurate quality and production records.
• Material Handling
• Prepare and load raw materials required for production processes.
• Support material drying, blending, color mixing, and chemical formulation activities.
• Verify materials meet production specifications and quality requirements.
• Maintain proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished goods.

Safety and Compliance:

• Follow OSHA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures at all times.
• Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when required.
• Safely handle chemicals, raw materials, and manufacturing equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, spills, leaks, and workplace hazards immediately.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and compliance activities.

Continuous Improvement and Workplace Organization:

• Maintain work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
• Record production output, scrap, material usage, and process data.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, waste reduction, and process optimization.
• Collaborate with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and production team members to achieve operational goals.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to machinery, noise, elevated temperatures, hot molds, and manufacturing chemicals.
• Required to wear appropriate PPE and comply with all company safety requirements.
• May participate in company-provided training programs related to equipment operation, safety, and quality systems.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Manufacturing, technical, or vocational training preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing, injection molding, foam processing, chemical processing, or related production experience preferred.
• Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
• Entry-level candidates may be considered upon successful completion of internal training and skills assessments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to operate production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and production documentation.
• Ability to monitor process parameters and identify production defects or equipment issues.
• Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read work instructions, technical documents, process sheets, and safety documentation.
• Basic English communication and documentation skills.
• Bilingual English/Mandarin skills are a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8-hour shifts.
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in environments with noise, heat, chemicals, and manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
