Veterinary Technician

Freeport Pet Clinic is hiring an experienced, full-time veterinary technician to provide compassionate patient care and positive client experiences. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in delivering high-quality care to our patients, while assisting our Veterinarian in both surgical and medical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients health/vitals during procedures and recovery.
• Perform dental cleanings.
• Assist the Veterinarian in examinations, surgeries and treatments of animals.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Maintain accurate medical records of exams, treatments and procedures.
• Performing in-house laboratory testing.
• Obtaining blood, stool, and other samples from patients.
• Taking and developing radiographs.
• Safely restrain pets during procedures, utilizing proper handling and restraint techniques.
• Cleaning animal cages/kennels.
• Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic.

Skills

• Proficient in animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling during examinations and treatments.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
• Dental cleaning experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of animal husbandry and physiology.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology.
• A compassionate attitude towards animals and their well-being is essential.
• A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
