Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency
- Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards are met
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and medical imaging, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry needs
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in/out processes
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate with team members and explain procedures to patients
Requirements
- Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, and use of medical documentation tools
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures in a clinical setting
- Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices confidently
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding for accurate recordkeeping
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the team and provide outstanding patient care in a fast-paced environment
- Orthodontic experience preferred but we’re happy to train the right person
- Travel between two offices on a rotation base.
