Summary
The Maintenance Technician supports production, quality, and operational efficiency by performing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance activities. This role is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and production machinery. The Maintenance Technician ensures all equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational to minimize downtime and support customer requirements. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive work environment while collaborating effectively with production and support teams.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures the safe and efficient operation of machinery and technical equipment by completing preventive and predictive maintenance on engines, motors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, electrical controls, and production equipment.
- Performs electrical troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment, including motors, drives, control circuits, sensors, relays, switches, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Diagnoses and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, regulators, actuators, and associated components.
- Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic malfunctions using technical drawings, schematics, operations manuals, manufacturer specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Locates sources of equipment problems by observing machinery in operation, conducting inspections, listening for irregularities, and utilizing precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes and replaces defective components using hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment.
- Determines dimensional and operational requirements of replacement parts through inspection and measurement using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Adjusts and calibrates machinery, control devices, instrumentation, and functional components to maintain optimal operating performance.
- Supports production uptime by communicating preventive maintenance requirements and equipment operating procedures to production personnel.
- Fabricates and modifies repair parts and components using machine shop equipment and fabrication tools when required.
- Performs equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities to improve reliability, safety, and performance.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and maintenance supply inventories by monitoring stock levels, forecasting requirements, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
- Utilizes maintenance resources efficiently by properly managing tools, equipment, spare parts, and consumable supplies.
- Provides technical support and maintenance expertise to production teams and management by responding to equipment-related inquiries and requests.
- Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing equipment performance, downtime, repair activities, and maintenance trends.
- Maintains technical proficiency through ongoing training, educational workshops, technical publications, and industry best practices.
- Documents, maintenance activities, repairs, equipment history, and outstanding issues to ensure effective communication between shifts and work teams.
- Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, process efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.
- Operates forklifts and material handling equipment as required to move materials, equipment, and products for maintenance or vendor shipments.
- Communicates equipment damage, safety concerns, incidents, and maintenance-related issues promptly to supervisors and management.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment while complying with all company policies, safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Supports emergency maintenance activities and responds to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education/Experience
Required:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance-related work
- Must have experience with hand tools/grinding tools and pneumatic air equipment
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Spanish & English is a plus
- Experience in a warehouse/distribution center specializing in the waterworks industry or related field
- Experience with inventory tracking and radio frequency systems
Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc.:
Required:
- PLC knowledge
- Vertical lathe knowledge\CNC experience
- Able to operate a forklift
- Excellent situational awareness
- Basic computer skills required
- Must be able to operate a mobile phone. Both through calls and text message.

Physical Demands
- Able to lift, move up, and carry materials up to 75 pounds
- Will be required to reach, stand, walk, or crouch during an 8-hour shift
- Must be able to be on feet continuously during an 8-hour shift
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs frequently during an 8-hour shift
- Must be able to climb 4 feet onto and off of a fork truck repetitively during an 8-hour shift
- Must be able to kneel and bend at the knees frequently during an 8-hour shift
- Must be able to push and pull 300 lbs with a pallet jack / fed-ex and ups shipping carts frequently during an 8-hour shift
- Must be able to use wrist and hands frequently during an 8-hour shift
Work Environment
- Able to work in various climate conditions
- Overtime and weekend work may occasionally be required
