The Quality Inspector ensures that products, raw materials, and finished parts meet all internal and customer quality requirements through thorough visual and dimensional inspections, accurate documentation, and close collaboration with production teams. This role focuses on roaming in-process inspections, incoming material checks, and final audits to identify non-conforming product and maintain high standards of quality across the facility.

Responsibilities
  • Roam the production floor to perform regular in-process inspections on parts and products.
  • Conduct visual checks of products during roaming to identify defects or non-conformities.
  • Perform incoming inspections, in-process inspections, and final audits on materials and finished goods.
  • Carry out visual and simple dimensional inspections on raw materials and parts that are plated, anodized, heat treated, or painted.
  • Use hand-held gauges such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and pin gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Generate, distribute, and file inspection reports in accordance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Document non-conforming products when detected and ensure they are clearly identified and segregated.
  • Attach Red Tags and Red HC tags to non-conforming product to prevent unintended use.
  • Complete and maintain all quality documentation per customer specifications and internal procedures.
  • File and organize material and product certificates to ensure full traceability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to communicate inspection results and support corrective actions.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy in all inspection and documentation activities.
  • Remain open to working overtime as needed to support production and quality demands.
Essential Skills
  • Multiple years of experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience working with gauges, including calipers and micrometers, for dimensional inspection.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use additional hand-held gauges such as height gauges and pin gauges.
  • Strong visual inspection skills with the ability to detect defects and non-conformities in products and materials.
  • Quality control and quality assurance experience, including quality checks and inspections.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language (bilingual).
  • Willingness to work overtime when required to support operational needs.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation requirements accurately.
  • Organizational skills for managing inspection reports, certificates, and quality records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with metal stamping and/or fabrication processes such as laser cutting, forming, welding, and assembly.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of IATF standards is a strong plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with inspection of plated, anodized, heat treated, and painted parts.
  • Understanding of non-conformance documentation and tagging practices.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing workflows and production environments.

Work Environment

The role is based in a newer, well-organized and tidy manufacturing facility equipped with modern production and inspection equipment. The building is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons, but work areas are kept orderly and structured to support efficient inspections. You will regularly move around the production floor to perform inspections and will work closely with production and quality teams. The environment involves frequent use of hand-held gauges such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and pin gauges, as well as computer systems for documentation and reporting. Overtime may be required at times to support production schedules and quality demands. Dress code typically aligns with a standard manufacturing setting, with appropriate attire and any required safety gear to ensure safe and effective work on the production floor.

This is a Permanent position based out of Mundelein, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
