Job Description
The Crater is responsible for building crates and packaging products in a new, growing facility, using hand and power tools, basic machinery, and computer systems for shipping. This role supports daily shop operations, works directly with customers, and helps ensure orders are prepared, packaged, and shipped accurately and on time.
Responsibilities- Build wooden crates and packaging solutions using hand tools and power tools.
- Perform kitting and assembly tasks to prepare products for shipment.
- Use a computer to enter shipping information and process orders accurately.
- Operate basic machinery, including band saws, after training is provided.
- Handle packaging tasks to ensure products are protected and prepared for transport.
- Support general shop operations and complete the majority of daily production work, especially when supervisors are traveling.
- Work directly with customers as needed to coordinate orders, answer questions, and support their needs.
- Assist with operating forklifts and other equipment as required for moving materials and products.
- After permanent hire, train to drive a box truck and assist with runs to other facilities.
- Maintain a safe, organized work area and follow all safety procedures when working with tools, machinery, and wood products.
- Experience working with hand tools and power tools in a construction or manufacturing environment.
- Previous work experience in a manufacturing or construction setting.
- Ability to use a computer for shipping purposes, including entering and managing shipment data.
- Experience operating machinery such as band saws or similar equipment, or willingness to learn.
- Background in packaging and kitting tasks in a production environment.
- Ability to operate a forklift or similar material-handling equipment.
- Comfort working with wood products and performing physical, hands-on tasks.
- Strong reliability and willingness to take ownership of day-to-day shop responsibilities.
- Experience working directly with customers in a production or service environment is a plus.
- Prior experience in assembly work using hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to be trained to drive a box truck and support deliveries between facilities.
- Ability to step into a lead-type role over time and help run the shop when supervisors are away.
- Comfort working in a small crew environment where responsibilities are broad and varied.

Work EnvironmentThis is a 1st shift position, working approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in a new facility with a small team. The setting is a hands-on production shop where you work extensively with wood products, hand tools, power tools, packaging materials, and basic machinery such as band saws and forklifts. You use computers for shipping tasks and, after permanent hire, may drive a box truck to support runs to other facilities. Because the team is small and leadership travels frequently, you play a key role in running the shop and handling a wide range of tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camp Hill, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
