Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a dedicated educator for students with visual impairments in a supportive school environment. This contract position focuses on delivering tailored instruction and resources to students in grades K-12, helping them achieve academic and functional goals. You’ll work onsite with a caseload of 20-23 students who have diverse needs, utilizing your expertise to ensure each learner receives the individualized support they deserve.

Qualifications:

  • Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license and certifications are required
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of adapted curriculum, assistive technology, and Braille instruction
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, related service providers, and families
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, addressing both academic and functional life skills
  • Assess student needs and develop clear, attainable goals as part of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team
  • Implement and adapt curriculum, materials, and strategies according to each student’s needs
  • Deliver instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of adaptive technology
  • Consult regularly with teachers, administrators, and families to promote inclusion and support student success
  • Maintain accurate records and progress documentation in compliance with school and state guidelines

This full-time, onsite role offers the chance to work throughout the academic year (ASAP-May 21, 2027) with a manageable caseload and the support of a collaborative team.
