Onsite 5 days a week in Irving, Texas 75063.

Senior Accountant (contract position):

Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end close activities by preparing and recording accruals so operating expenses are recognized in the correct accounting period.

• Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity each month, identifying significant variances and summarizing findings for leadership review.

• Examine a range of business agreements, including vendor, acquisition, divestiture, supply, and technology-related contracts, to determine appropriate accounting treatment.

• Reconcile high-volume general ledger accounts and drive timely resolution of outstanding items to support accurate financial statements.

• Partner with business process owners to validate accrued amounts, confirm open obligations, and ensure recurring costs are recorded by the proper service month.

• Review close checklists and related entries to confirm transactions are complete, not duplicated, and reversed correctly when required.

• Prepare balance sheet reclassifications, clearing entries, and post-close reporting packages to support proper account presentation after each close cycle.

• Respond to questions from management regarding profit and loss accruals, account activity, and monthly financial results.

• Support compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX procedures, including assistance with walkthroughs, testing, and process documentation updates.

• Contribute to quarterly and year-end reporting deliverables, including footnote support, forecast backup coverage, and other ad hoc analysis requested by leadership.

In addition, this position requires strong consolidations and intercompany experience, as well as equity accounting experience.

• 5+ years of accounting experience with strong emphasis on month-end close, accrual accounting, and general ledger activities.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and interpret large volumes of financial data accurately.
• Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and balance sheet account management.
• Experience conducting variance or flux analysis for both P& L and balance sheet accounts.
• Background working with ERP or accounting platforms, with Oracle experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and reporting support.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate accounting issues clearly to management.
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal control standards, including exposure to SOX-compliant environments, is preferred.
