Tax Accountant
Job Description
We are a family-owned CPA firm looking for an experienced Tax Accountant to join our team. We are looking for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, is comfortable handling a variety of tax and accounting responsibilities, and can manage their work independently while also being part of a small team.
This position will include a mix of tax preparation, accounting work, and client interaction. Some of the primary responsibilities include:
Preparing individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120-S, and 1065 using UltraTax
Preparing financial statements and reviewing general ledger activity for business clients
Preparing payroll tax reports, including Forms 941, 940, TWC reports, W-2s, and 1099s
Communicating directly with clients by phone, email, and in person
Requesting and organizing client documents and following up on missing information
Reviewing and reconciling accounts and helping resolve accounting or tax-related questions
A big part of this position is client interaction. You should be comfortable answering questions, explaining what information is needed, and building good working relationships with our clients. We value someone who is personable, dependable, organized, and able to take ownership of their work.
We are looking for someone with:
At least 3 years of accounting and tax experience
Experience preparing both individual and business tax returns
Familiarity with QuickBooks and financial statements
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Good communication and customer service skills
The ability to stay organized and work well in a deadline-driven environment
A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred. CPA or EA designation is a plus.
Because we are a smaller firm, this is a good fit for someone who enjoys variety and does not want to be limited to one narrow area of accounting. We are looking for someone who can work independently, communicate confidently with clients, and also work well with the rest of our team.
This is a full-time, primarily in-office position.
