Job Description

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity working with elementary-age students near Waukesha, WI. This specialized position is ideal for a Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP) with a passion for pediatric and school-based support. The role offers a flexible 24-hour workweek (.6 FTE) and the chance to make a significant impact with a manageable caseload of 12-15 students at Poplar Creek Elementary School.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct speech-language therapy for students with diverse communication needs within an elementary school setting
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers to help integrate high tech and low tech communication supports
  • Support non-verbal students utilizing AAC devices to enhance their ability to communicate
  • Monitor student progress, document sessions, and communicate outcomes with families and staff
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and school-based interventions

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and current CCC-SLP credentials
  • Valid state licensure (or eligibility) for Wisconsin SLPs
  • Evidence of pediatric and school-based experience
  • Strong skills in working with AAC devices and adapting interventions for non-verbal students
  • Comfortable collaborating with classroom teachers to support students’ inclusion and participation
  • Flexible approach to scheduling and caseload management

Standout qualities:

  • Experience implementing a variety of AAC systems for non-verbal or minimally verbal children
  • Demonstrated success co-teaching or collaborating with general education staff to promote inclusive practices

This contract position runs from August 24 to June 11, with school staff starting on August 24 and student services beginning September 1. The schedule (8:35AM–4:00PM) offers you the flexibility to balance work with personal commitments.
