Job Description
This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on HVAC design for large commercial buildings, including office spaces, multifamily developments, and commercial interiors. You will perform heating and cooling load calculations, create designs in AutoCAD and Revit, conduct site visits, and manage project deadlines while collaborating closely with clients and architects.
Responsibilities- Design HVAC systems for large commercial buildings, including office spaces, multifamily properties, and commercial interiors.
- Perform detailed heating and cooling load calculations to ensure efficient and compliant system design.
- Develop mechanical and HVAC design drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Support plumbing and MEP engineering design as part of integrated building systems.
- Conduct site visits to review existing conditions, verify installations, and gather design information.
- Manage project deadlines, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Collaborate and interact with clients, architects, and other project stakeholders throughout the design process.
- Contribute to building design projects of various types, ensuring mechanical systems align with overall project requirements.
- Coordinate with professional engineers and EITs as needed to support project design and documentation.
- Minimum of 4+ years of mechanical HVAC design experience.
- Hands-on experience designing HVAC systems for commercial buildings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for mechanical and HVAC design.
- Working knowledge of Revit for building design and documentation.
- Strong background in mechanical engineering and mechanical design.
- Experience performing heating and cooling load calculations.
- Experience with HVAC design, plumbing design, and MEP engineering.
- Ability to work directly with clients and architects and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Experience performing site visits and translating field conditions into design solutions.
- Experience with building design projects across a variety of commercial building types.
- Exposure to working with or supporting professional engineers.
- Experience as or working alongside an Engineer in Training (EIT).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with two days in the office and three days remote each week. There is flexibility to work four 10-hour days to have Fridays off, providing an attractive work-life balance. You will collaborate with design teams using AutoCAD and Revit in a professional office setting, supported by remote work tools that enable effective communication with clients, architects, and project stakeholders.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arlington, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
