The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician supports a high-speed production environment as the mechanical expert, ensuring that all production and support equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role performs preventative and corrective maintenance on motors, conveyor systems, filling equipment, and other industrial machinery, while contributing to continuous improvement and training team members on mechanical processes across 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Support the production team as the primary mechanical expert in a millwright-style capacity.
  • Ensure all production and support equipment is operating properly and efficiently.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on motors, conveyor systems, filling equipment, palletizing equipment, and other industrial machinery or facility-related needs.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and basic electrical issues on equipment and perform repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Carry out basic electrical tasks such as replacing motors, switches, photo eyes (PE), and related components, while coordinating with industrial electricians or PLC programmers for complex issues.
  • Perform package changeovers on production lines as required to support different products or formats.
  • Support the team in all aspects of the operation, including equipment setup, line changeovers, and reliability improvements.
  • Train team members on mechanical processes, equipment operation, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Focus on continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance, reduce downtime, and improve safety.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with ISO Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and protection of company assets.
  • Interpret and follow instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, schematic, or schedule form to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize company-provided tools, resources, and technology to document work, access information, and support efficient maintenance operations.
Essential Skills
  • Experience as a maintenance technician in a high-speed manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge in the operation of continuous motion packaging, filling, and palletizing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Basic electrical maintenance skills, including replacing motors, switches, and photo eyes (PE).
  • Knowledge of mechanical processes such as hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose equipment issues quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all functional team members and communicate effectively.
  • Capability to utilize company-provided resources and technology to support maintenance activities.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 2–4 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to work full-time on 2nd or 3rd shift and to work weekends, holidays, or a flexible schedule as required.
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of company assets and adhere to ISO Good Manufacturing Practices standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand instructions and document work clearly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-speed manufacturing environment with conveyor and filler line equipment.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, professional appearance in line with company guidelines.
  • Ability to train others on mechanical processes and share technical knowledge with team members.
  • Comfort with frequent walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation during maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work safely around chemicals, with repeated exposure to water and noise.
  • Experience with assembly line equipment and conveyor maintenance is beneficial.
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing setting is an advantage.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing setting focused on facilities maintenance and conveyor/filler line equipment within a high-speed production environment. Work is performed primarily on 2nd and 3rd shifts, with typical hours for 2nd shift around mid-afternoon to late evening and for 3rd shift overnight to early morning. The environment involves frequent walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation, along with regular exposure to water, noise, and chemicals typical of a production facility. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in accordance with safety policies, and employees are expected to maintain a neat, professional appearance. The facility operates under ISO Good Manufacturing Practices standards, emphasizing cleanliness, safety, and structured processes, and uses a range of mechanical, electrical, packaging, filling, and conveyor technologies to support continuous motion manufacturing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baton Rouge, LA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.50 - $27.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
