Job Description

This role focuses on operating and assisting with a variety of metal fabrication and assembly machines in an industrial manufacturing environment. You will set up, run, and monitor equipment used to shape, flatten, and form steel plates and sheets, while performing mechanical assembly and general production tasks. The position requires careful attention to quality standards, safe work practices, and accurate documentation of production and inspection activities.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor steel rolling and other fabrication machinery to shape, flatten, or reduce the gauge of steel plates and sheets using hot or cold rolling techniques.
  • Operate equipment such as brake press, punch press, band saw, and other machines used to fabricate sheet metal, as assigned.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints and production drawings to ensure parts and assemblies meet required specifications.
  • Perform mechanical assembly and assembly line tasks using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Carry out incoming and outgoing quality checks and other quality inspections in accordance with established quality standards and management requirements.
  • Document production and quality activities by accurately completing production and quality forms.
  • Use a computer to access, open, and close documents, perform data entry in ERP software, and complete other basic computer tasks related to production and quality.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area in line with company guidelines and Hazardous Waste Management programs.
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently and appropriately to complete work tasks.
  • Handle company tools, equipment, and property with care and respect, help maintain items in good working condition, and ensure they remain on the premises.
  • Collaborate and communicate with coworkers, customers, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, including safety protocols when working around heavy machinery and in weld shop areas.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience operating machines used to fabricate sheet metal, such as brake press, punch press, band saw, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to set up, run, and monitor steel rolling machinery for hot or cold rolling operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly and general production tasks.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to access and manage documents and perform data entry in ERP software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting established quality standards.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work safely around heavy machinery in an industrial and weld shop environment.
  • Capability to maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical assembly and assembly line work.
  • Background in general labor or general production roles within an industrial setting.
  • Comfort working with a variety of hand and power tools in a fabrication or weld shop environment.
  • Ability to complete production and quality forms accurately and consistently.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to interact with coworkers, customers, and management in a cooperative and courteous manner.
  • Reliability and willingness to support cross-training and learn new equipment or processes as needed.

Work Environment

You work in an industrial, weld shop environment around heavy machinery and metal fabrication equipment. The team consists of approximately 40 employees, providing a close-knit, production-focused setting where collaboration is important. The role involves standing, moving around production areas, and working near active equipment, so adherence to safety procedures and use of appropriate protective gear is essential. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and proper handling of tools, equipment, and materials in line with Hazardous Waste Management and other safety guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sunnyvale, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
