Available Shifts:
1st Shift (7am - 3:30pm but flexible)
2nd Shift (3pm - 11:30pm but flexible)
About the Opportunity
A growing aerospace manufacturer is seeking experienced CNC VTL Machinists (Manual) to join its Heavy Machining team. This position is ideal for machinists who enjoy working on large, complex components requiring precision, attention to detail, and strong machining fundamentals.
You'll work with large-format CNC Vertical Turning Lathes machining heavy metallic forgings, castings, and billets used in demanding aerospace applications. What You'll Do
• Set up and operate manual CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs)
• Machine large metallic forgings, castings, and billets
• Perform milling, drilling, facing, boring, and precision machining operations
• Read and interpret complex aerospace blueprints and engineering drawings
• Work with GD&T and maintain tight machining tolerances
• Perform complete machine setups including tooling, workholding, offsets, and adjustments
• Monitor tooling and replace cutting inserts as necessary
• Load and secure parts weighing 500+ pounds using overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment
• Maintain quality standards while following AS9100 procedures
• Keep work area clean, organized, and safe
• Perform additional machining duties as assigned
What You Bring
• 3–5+ years of CNC machining experience
• Experience setting up and operating CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs)
• Strong manual setup experience
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
• Experience with GD&T and precision tolerances
• Experience machining large, heavy components
• Knowledge of tooling, inserts, offsets, and troubleshooting
• Experience using overhead cranes and rigging equipment
• Aerospace, defense, heavy machining, or heavy industrial manufacturing experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
