A day in the bayYou open your workstation, check the day’s tickets, and roll in the first vehicle for an oil change. Between mounting a new tire set, balancing each wheel to spec, and repairing a puncture with a proper patch-and-plug, you keep the workflow moving. You lift vehicles safely, look over brakes, fluids, and key components, and conduct state vehicle safety inspections according to current requirements. Clear notes go into the service record, and you flag recommended maintenance to customers and the manager—always with professional, courteous service. Throughout the day you follow all safety procedures, keep tools organized, floors swept, and jump in on other shop tasks when needed.
What you will do- Complete routine services: oil changes; tire installation, rotation, and balancing; and tire repairs (patching and plugging).
- Perform state vehicle safety inspections in line with applicable requirements.
- Inspect tires, brakes, fluids, and other components for wear, damage, or safety concerns.
- Handle basic mechanical maintenance and repairs as assigned.
- Operate tire changers, wheel balancers, vehicle lifts, and standard shop tools safely and correctly.
- Communicate recommended repairs or maintenance needs to customers and/or management.
- Document services accurately and maintain complete records of work performed.
- Adhere to company safety procedures and correct handling practices.
- Keep the shop and your bay clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Deliver professional, courteous customer service.
- Assist with additional shop duties as required.
- Prior experience in automotive, tire, or mechanical service preferred.
- Solid understanding of tire work: repair, installation, rotation, and balancing.
- Ability to perform oil changes and other basic vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with state vehicle inspection requirements.
- Comfort operating service equipment and hand tools safely.
- High attention to detail and a safety-first mindset.
- Team player who can also work independently.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Capability to handle physical aspects of the job: lifting, standing, bending, and working around vehicles and equipment.
