About This Role

We are seeking qualified and compassionate individuals to join our team as classroom teachers or teacher's assistants in our Preschool and Early Childhood Program at Compass Academy. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young children by providing high-quality early childhood development skills in a supportive and nurturing environment. What You'll Do

  • Direct and lead a group of children, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Supervise daily activities, including meals, breaks, and rest periods, to maintain a smooth and organized schedule.
  • Develop and implement cognitive skill-building activities to support the growth and development of our students.
  • Plan and prepare engaging lesson plans and educational materials that cater to the needs of our young learners.
  • Build meaningful relationships with our students through interactive activities, such as reading, games, and role-playing.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including cleaning up after meals and activities.
  • Assist in the upkeep of our school's building and grounds, ensuring a safe and welcoming space for our students and staff.
  • Contribute to the preparation and serving of meals and snacks, promoting a sense of community and teamwork.
  • Facilitate effective communication between parents, staff, and the director, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment.


Requirements

  • Child Development Associates credential (CDA) is preferred, or a High School Diploma/GED and enrolled in a program leading to a Child Development Associates credential to be completed within one year or be enrolled in a program leading to an Associate's Degree or Baccalaureate Degree in Early Childhood Education. Should have experience with infants and pre-schoolers.
  • Can lift and carry children (maximum of 40 pounds).
  • Can move quickly enough to supervise children safely.
  • Maintains a neat and clean physical appearance.
  • Attends staff meetings, training sessions, or other events, such as Family Night and the Christmas Program, as required.
  • Completes the appropriate number of in-service hours each year.
  • Participates in an orientation program.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must adhere to the center's Behavior Guidance policies at all times.
  • Can provide an appropriate speech model while interacting with children and parents.
