CPA Tax Manager / Senior Tax Accountant
Our client is a highly respected and growth-oriented public accounting firm seeking an experienced CPA Tax Manager or Senior Tax Accountant to join their team. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and supervise the preparation of complex individual, corporate, partnership, S-corporation, trust, and fiduciary tax returns.
- Conduct tax research and provide practical solutions related to federal, state, and local tax matters.
- Develop and review tax projections, planning strategies, and tax-saving opportunities for clients.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong long-term relationships.
- Advise clients on business structures, tax compliance requirements, and strategic tax planning initiatives.
- Review completed tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current tax regulations.
- Mentor, train, and develop junior accountants and tax staff.
- Assist with workflow management, engagement scheduling, and workload prioritization during busy seasons.
- Respond to IRS, state, and local tax authority notices and assist clients with audits and examinations.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and strengthen existing client relationships.
- Participate in business development, networking, and community involvement activities.
- Stay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry developments.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to improve processes, enhance client service, and support firm growth initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities (Tax Manager Level)
- Manage a portfolio of business and high-net-worth clients.
- Oversee tax engagements from planning through completion.
- Review staff work and provide performance coaching and technical guidance.
- Assist with firm-wide quality control and tax practice management initiatives.
- Participate in strategic planning and leadership discussions.
Qualifications
- Active CPA license required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation is a plus.
- 5+ years of public accounting tax experience preferred for Senior level.
- 7+ years of public accounting tax experience with supervisory experience preferred for Manager level.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation for individuals and businesses.
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and conducting tax research.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong client relationship management and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
