Hourly Non Exempt
$29.00 to $32.00 per hour
San Rafael Headquarters
Reports to: HR Director

Job Summary:
This position is ideal for an HR professional who wants to deepen their expertise and gradually grow into a HR Generalist as the organization scales. We are seeking an individual who values a high level of customer service, has exceptional attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and is eager to continuously learn. The Human Resources Coordinator must be able to work independently, and on a team. This role provides administrative support to the accounting and payroll function as needed, including record keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position reports to the HR Director
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management
• Manage onboarding and offboarding, including documentation, systems updates, and employee communication
• Maintain accurate HRIS and personnel records
2. Employee Relations
• Serve as a primary resource for day to day HR support
• Assist with employee relations matters performance concerns, investigations, and terminations with guidance from HR Director
• Help foster a positive, compliant, and supportive workplace culture
3. Policy Implementation & Compliance
• Support rollout and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook
• Assist HR Director to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with emphasis on California regulations
• Assist with documentation, internal controls, and governance initiatives
• Work closely with Payroll, and Operations partners
• Coordinate with HR Director on HR related matters when needed
4. Compensation & Benefits Administration
• Help administer 401(k)
• Assist with compensation reviews and bonus administration
5. Talent Acquisition
• Support job postings
• Help ensure a smooth, positive candidate experience
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
• 2–5 years of HR experience
• Basic understanding of U.S. employment laws, especially California labor regulations
• Hands on experience in HR operations, employee relations, and benefits administration
• HRIS experience
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a startup or scaling environment
• HR certification (SHRM CP, PHR)
